Park safari...

Does the Name Beekse Park Safari Ring a Bell? West Midlands or Knowsley?Probably not, unless you're a European park safari enthusiast. All three of these parks are perhaps not as conventionally popular as the original African safari parks, however each of them is special in its own way. The park safari experiences that these three European parks provide are renown in their own way and famous in their respective circles. However, despite being fairly obscure in terms of general popularity, these park safaris stand out for the little elements that make them each unique in their own way.

The Park Safari of Beekse Bergen, Netherlands: The largest park safari in Holland, Beekse Bergen is pretty much all that you would expect from a European park safari. While not the open plains of a savanna that the hard-core park safari enthusiast might expect, Beekse Burgen still has its fair share of attractions, mainly in the way it is organized. This park safari boasts a hotel service of safari bungalows for rent. Also, for only a euro extra, there is the 'combination package' that gives you access to Speeland Beekse Burgen (a sort of water-world, water park attraction). The park safari itself is not to be dumbed down either. With its comprehensive (if not complete) selection of animals, Beekse Burgen has everything from cheetahs to elephants, rhinos, lynxs, giraffes and much more.

The West Midlands Park Safari, England: Located in the heart of good ol' England, the West Midlands Safari and Leisure Park has something for everybody. It's vast array of safari wildlife certainly attracts both tourists and locals alike in droves as they admire the white lions, wild dogs, elephants, waterbucks, white rhinos, zebras, and many more throughout the four mile long drive through that is the main attraction of this park safari. While much of the animals are from African wildlife, there are many from Asia, and Europe too. However, what sets the West Midlands park safari apart from many of its other contenders is its impressive array of activities ranging from the crowd favorite hippo feeding, to the reptile encounter that drives children wild. Other activities include a bonfire bonanza and and even the yearly 'Santa Safari' attraction.

The Knowsley Park Safari, England: Close by to the city of Liverpool, Knowsley spans 200 hectares of land full of assorted African wildlife. It also has a large collection of other animals, including a wide variety of British wildlife. In fact, Knowsley even organizes 'fungus forays' in the autumn to look at their impressive variety of Puffballs, Stinkhorns, and other such fungi. The 5-mile long route through this park is the best way to view its wildlife, from the herds of buffalo, rhinos and camels, to the tigers, lions that are now in enclosures for safety and display reasons. There is also an elephant paddock, and sea lion show for those who are interested. Knowsley is renown as a great name among animal reserves, and has won many awards for tourism and animal husbandry.
