Mediterranean map – about the Mediterranean Sea: The Mediterranean Sea is a large body of water that is linked to the Atlantic Ocean by the 9-mile wide Strait of Gibraltar. The Mediterranean Sea is also known as an Inland Sea, and its name literally translates to mean ‘middle of the land’.
