What Are These African Lion Safaris? In 1967, Lion Country Safari, Florida, opened its gates to the public. It championed a new "cageless zoo" theme whereby its animals were allowed to roam freely through its grounds. Two years later, the African Lion Safari, Ontario, did much the same. Located not too far from Cambridge and Toronto, and easily accesible from both places, it became a hit too. While largely the focus of both these parks were on African lions initially, over the years both parks have grown to house much more than that, and today, there are over 1000 animals roaming each of these parks which can be viewed through their similar drive-through style preserves. Both parks have enjoyed tremendous success, and are jointly very much involved in nature conservation via their captivity breeding programmes for endangered species. They also provide a wide range of educational entertainment, designed to increase the public awareness on matters concerning the wildlife and the ecosystem. Indeed there is little to choose between them.

The Lion Country Safari, Florida - More than Just A Park: Apart from its abundant preserves which are beautifully organized by the region of origin of the animals, the Lion Country Safari has created a walk-through area of the park that it calls Safari World. In Safari World, the Lion Country Safari combines its wildlife abundance with the traditional amusement park theme by providing a range of activities and exhibits from giraffe feeding and petting zoos to boat rides and even a Ferris wheel. There are also various animal exhibits that can be enjoyed. Also, it has its KOA Campground and RV Resort, which allows for overnight stays right next to the animal preserve. The campground comes with complete camping facilities and even includes a swimming pool, general store, picnic tables, a pavilion, and much more. So why rush off when you can spend the night camped out right next to a thousand wild animals. With it's location also just minutes away from Palm Beach, Florida, there is convenient access to any type of facility.

The African Lion Safari, Ontario – Every Opportunity to View Nature: Also with abundant preserves, what really distinguishes itself about the African Lion Safari in Ontario are the various other services available to view the wildlife. While the Safari Tour Bus may be nothing too special, the African Queen boat certainly is. As it goes around the Water Safari Lake, you'll get to experience a variety of wildlife that would have certainly been missed from a car or bus. Ring-tailed lemurs, Ground Horn-bills, Spider monkeys and endangered Angolan Colobus monkeys are but a few of the inhabitants of this region. There's also a scenic railway that promises a close up view of snapping turtles! Like The Lion Country Safari, there are camping facilities available for overnight stays in a 'primitive' style (sorry, no swimming pool here, but there is an unsupervised pond). Purists will probably enjoy this more natural type of camping.

So Should You Be Buying a Ticket to Ontario, Canada or Florida, United States? Well, both, if you can afford it. There honestly is so little to separate the two that it would be great if you could visit both of these shining examples of African Lion Safaris. So why not sit back and budget it out for yourself in deciding which one of these two great parks to visit. Whatever you decide, you won't be disappointed.
