Why a Steel Galvanized Tub? Galvanization originally simply meant administering electric shocks. Today, it generally refers to hot-dip galvanizing, which is, the process by which steel or iron is coated with zinc. The reason this is done is to reduce corrosion caused by rusting, and thus, protects an item far better when continually exposed to water. The zinc coating essentially forms a barrier to protect the steel, and even if that barrier is breached, the result of any oxidation of zinc is not as to the surface integrity as iron would be.
