Apparatus chemistry

Chemistry Laboratory Apparatus: Common Chemistry laboratory apparatus and equipment includes a wide range of tools, apparatus and instruments that are all essential for performing and conducting research and experiments. Chemistry laboratory apparatus includes glassware, distillation apparatus and technologically advanced equipment like spectrophotometers. This equipment is designed to give precise results.

Common Lab Apparatus: Some of the types of common lab apparatus widely in laboratory use are: burettes, Bunsen burners, butane gas burners, deflagration spoons, pipettes, plastic funnels, reagent bottles, spatulas, test tubes, thistle tubes, conical and round bottomed flasks, beakers, tripod stands, vacuum pumps, voltmeters and so on. These types of common lab apparatus are found in almost all chemistry labs everywhere, whether in a school or a college, or even in larger, more sophisticated labs conducting major experiments or research.

Burettes are pieces of apparatus that are quite common in laboratory settings. They are pieces of cylindrical glassware with volumetric markings along the length and a stopcock at the bottom. It is used to dispense measured amounts of liquid reagents for experiments. A Bunsen burner in a laboratory is used for heating, combustion and sterilization. It heats much more quickly than a hot plate or other similar heating devices. The deflagration spoon, a deep-set bowl with a large diameter and a long handle, is used to heat and burn chemicals. Pipettes, test tubes, thistle tubes, flasks, beakers etc., are also glassware equipment.

Chemistry Apparatus for Experiments: Special chemistry apparatus for experiments, such as digital laboratory thermometers can provide faster and more accurate readings. These are more efficient than the conventional analog thermometers. The chemistry apparatus for experiments are especially designed keeping in mind the high precision levels required in research in major laboratories. HVAC thermometers, for example, are used for applications like duct or flume monitoring. Watertight thermometers are used for wet environment applications, and sanitary thermometers are required for food or pharmaceutical uses.

Distillation apparatus, specialized chemistry apparatus for experiments, are used for conducting distillation processes in labs, and are made of heat and chemical resistant borosilicate glass. The commonly used distillation apparatus include adapters, chromatography columns, flasks, funnels, liners, peptide vessels, and stirrer assemblies. They can be used for various processes like fractional distillation, complete distillation, and destructive distillation, and have uses in the laboratory in a number of fields such as pharmaceuticals, petrochemical refining, water purification and so on.

Use of Chemistry Apparatus: Common use of chemistry apparatus is in educational institutions like schools and colleges. All high schools offer courses in chemistry and therefore have at least one chemistry lab. And where there is a chemistry lab, there is bound to be chemistry apparatus. Colleges that offer courses in science, especially in the various streams of chemistry and applied chemistry, also have need for both basic and more sophisticated chemistry apparatus for their use.

The use of chemistry apparatus also extends to industries and the fields of research and development of drugs, petroleum and chemical products, paints and so on. Digital thermometers, for example, are used in clinical laboratories, educational laboratories, hospitals, research experiments, food industry, chemical and petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and petroleum industry, while burettes are used in the pharmaceutical industry, to measure chemicals.
