Mastiff tibetan...

Mastiff Tibetan: This particular variety of dog is very rare and it is also huge in size. It is also much heavier than the normal mastiff varieties and it is moderately sized with strong bones and a wide head that makes it look even bigger than the dogs that are similar to it in height. The Mastiff Tibetan can be as tall as 31 inches though the standard height of this particular breed is about 25 to 28 inches. The maximum weight that has been recorded so far is over 200lb though the average weight is typically between 100 to 160 pounds. The colors of this breed can be anything from tan to black, shades of light to darker gold though dilute grey and brown varieties are also available. In Tibet this breed has a white patch that is shaped like a star on the chest and this signifies a brave heart.

The native variety of this dog is still there in Tibet China but the westernized breed can vary a lot in temperament. The few varieties that are there in Tibet are aggressive, ferocious, and difficult to train and their behaviors are very unpredictable. The same variety that are bred by the English are quite submissive in nature and remain loyal and attached to their masters. This breed has been so far highly prized as it has been a guard at night, keeping predators and intruders away from a home and also protects livestock.

The Mastiff Tibetan has a relatively long life span of ten to fourteen years and because of it being naturally selected it has lesser genetic and health problems. But it does suffer from a few problems like entropion or ectropion, hypothyroidism, skin problems including allergies, cardiac problems, missing teeth, malocclusion, progressive retinal atrophy (PRA) and ear infections.

The Mastiff Tibetan Puppy: It is quite a stubborn breed as evident from its photo, the Mastiff Tibetans becomes docile, easygoing, very loyal and devoted with age and once they get familiar to the people they are with; their sheer intelligence also makes them a good pet whose capability of accepting strangers stay directly proportional to the vibes their owners give out. The first two years are vital for both and the owner as it is an adventure for both. The puppies take some time to mature but are quite primitive and intelligent. The point that needs to be remembered is that the stages needs to be carefully scrutinized and more time devoted to make it feel confident. You should take them to meet new people, allow them to sniff and understand them and these will gradually make them confident about themselves and not become very aggressive.

Mastiff Tibetan Breeding: Irresponsible breeders make a bad sale because they do it only for profit; without a passion for the breed, the result can be an endless pit that shall consume money till the time the owner gets disappointed and puts the pet to sleep. A few genetic problems being responsible (hip dysplasia being the most common one), it is therefore important to take under consideration the details of the breeder as well.
