Doberman miniature...

Doberman miniature pinscher: The miniature pinscher, or the minpin, looks similar to the Doberman. However, a Miniature Pinscher is not a Doberman miniature. People often mistake the two to be the same breed, or take the miniature to be a bred down version of the Doberman. The Doberman miniature is a distinct toy breed, while the average height and weight of the Doberman pinscher are about 18-26 inches for bitches and 24-26 inches for males, and they weigh 66 and 88 pounds respectively.

A tax collector named Lois Dobermann bred the Doberman pinscher to resemble the Miniature pinscher in 1980. Hence, both dogs are said to have common ancestors. It is thought that their similarities may be due to them having a common genetic relation to the German Pinscher.

However, miniature pinschers actually come from a much older breed. They belong to the pinscher breed, which means terrier in German. Minpins are essentially an AKC recognized toy breed. On the other hand, Doberman pinschers are guard dogs and AKC recognizes them as working dogs.

Picture of the Doberman miniature: The picture of the Doberman miniature pinscher has a popular viewer-ship on most breeder and rescue sites. They have a medium sized square build, and are muscular and stocky in appearance. The color of the coat ranges from black, red, fawn or blue. They have short hair and docked tails and ears, and the head widens towards the base of the ears. The gait is supple and energetic.

The Doberman miniature puppy’s pictures are endearing with almond-shaped, deep-set eyes and an alert and lively facial expression. This breed is full of life and highly determined. They are very loyal and obedient to their owners, but they are playful as well, especially with kids. All these features account for the high Doberman miniature pinscher’s sales statistics.

Doberman miniature pinscher puppy: Even though diminutive in size, Minpins make excellent watchdogs. Excitable in nature, these dogs are quick to sound the alarm when strangers appear. They have a tendency of excessive barking when alarmed. The Doberman miniature seems to be unaware of its small size and will attack much larger animals. With proper, positive training, Doberman miniature pinscher puppies grow up to be very well adjusted and happy dogs. Special care must be taken when raising female Doberman miniature pinscher pups, as they are more stubborn than their male counterparts. All of which proves that they make excellent family watchdogs, as long as they are well taken care of.
