Mitsubishi evolution - X Evolution Mitsubushi 10

Mitsubishi evolution...

The flagship sports car of the Mitsubishi Motor Company of Japan, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is class by itself. The only major similarity between the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and the Mitsubishi Lancer is that they share the same monocoque chassis design. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution was initially developed for World Rally Championships, using a 2-liter dual overhead camshaft turbocharged engine. It was capable of 244 hp at 6000 rpm. The drive train was a 4-wheel drive and both the engine and the drive train were products of Mitsubishi Galant VR-4, in a Lancer chassis. Ever since the launch in 1993, nine street versions of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution have been manufactured. The various versions are commonly denoted by Roman numerals. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is colloquially referred to as the ‘Evo’.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X: The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X is yet to see the light of the day. The production is scheduled for mid 2007. It was introduced as Concept-X, a next-generation car by Mitsubishi at the 39th Tokyo Motor Show. It is also referred to as the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10 and will feature a complete redesign of the original computer system and the chassis. The other innovative features of the new Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X or the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10 include the Super All Wheel Control or S-AWC and the Active Center Differential. The S-AWC ensures that all the wheels of the car get optimum torque at all times. An all alloy engine, with a completely new design called 4B11T, is expected to power the new Mitsubishi Evolution X. The design includes a DOHC or dual overhead camshaft, a 2-liter engine with MIVEC or Mitsubishi Innovative Valve-timing-and-lift Electronic Control System.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 9: Three years after introducing the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8, Mitsubishi introduced the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 9. For the first time, the Evo included the MIVEC, which offers variable valve timing. Its two-liter engine, the 4G63, gives a reading of 255 WHP or wheel horse power, an increase of thirty horsepower on the dynamometer as compared to the earlier EVO 8. The company has designed four different models of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 9. The RS, MR, GSR and the SE, all differ from each other in performance characteristics, like speed and acceleration. The RS loses sixty pounds by omitting the rear spoilers, power windows and other body accessories.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8: Product innovation being the Mitsubishi hallmark, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8 flaunted other unique features. One was the Super Active Yaw Control, which was an upgrade of the Active Yaw Control introduced by Mitsubishi in the EVO IV. It refers to a computer controlled rear differential that receives inputs from different accelerometers in the car, to control the torque to the individual axles. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8 featured a 6 speed manual gearbox. It was available in different trims, such as the GSR, RS and MR. The RS was devoid of many features, giving it an advance in performance by the reduced weight. The MR was given aerodynamic advantage, by the addition of a set of ridges above the rear window, referred to as the vortex generator. There were upgrades to the antilock braking system and the electronic all wheel drive too.
