Diesel exhaust...

Diesel Exhaust System: The Diesel Exhaust System is an essential part of the diesel automotive system, to reduce combustion noise. It includes a device called a catalytic converter, which is meant to combat hazardous emissions into the atmosphere. The exhaust gas is directed through the diesel exhaust system. This reduces the noise and environmental pollutants, before allowing the gas to escape in the atmosphere.

Diesel exhaust gas is a by-product of the combustion of diesel fuel in a diesel internal combustion engine. It is a complex mixture of gases and contains minuscule particulate matter .The composition of the diesel exhaust gas is not identical in different engines. The difference is governed by the operating conditions, fuel composition, lubricating oil used and the catalytic converter in the engines.

Diesel exhaust gas is found to contain carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, unburned hydrocarbons, oxides of nitrogen, aldehydes, sulfur dioxide, sulfates, unburned hydrocarbon components and particulate matter. The particulate matter consists of excessive spherical carbon particles, approximately 0.01 to 0.08 microns in size. Many of these substances, called poly-nuclear hydrocarbons, have been tested and found to be carcinogenic in nature. On account of their small size, these particles can be inhaled and remain lodged in the bronchial and alveolar regions of the respiratory system.

Performance Diesel Exhaust System: A performance diesel exhaust system can be fitted, in order to increase the performance of a diesel truck, A performance exhaust system incorporates a flow through design, free from any sudden or sharp bend, ensuring the free flow of the exhaust gases. It also helps to cool operating temperatures, by nearly three hundred degrees. Lower operating temperature supports the turbocharger and reduces the time taken to become operative, leading to improved fuel economy. A good performance diesel exhaust system uses aluminized pipes of 15 or 16 gauge-wall thickness. The diameter differs at different places, to cater to optimum performance. It can be 3, 4, 5 inch or 6 inches according to requirements. The diameter of the pipes and the length affects the performance of a diesel engine and its airflow and backpressure. Aluminum and stainless steel are now being used in the exhaust systems and catalytic converters, to improve their quality.

Dodge Diesel Exhaust System: Special performance diesel exhaust systems for the Dodge diesel 5.9L, 6.0L and other Dodge vehicles are available with market suppliers. There are special mufflers, single and dual delete pipes, exhaust tips, special headers and stacks for the diesel exhaust system, designed to improve performance, fuel economy and the appearance of the Dodge diesel pick-up trucks.

Tip To Add Style To Your Diesel Exhaust: To give a pick-up diesel exhaust fitted truck system a deep and resonating exhaust sound, stacks could be fitted. Stacks are chrome-plated pipes of different shapes that are fitted to the bed of the truck. A hole is cut in the bed of the truck and the stack is connected to the diesel exhaust system of the truck. This proves to be a useful diesel exhaust systems performance and style-enhancing tip. Stacks may vary in diameter, from 5 inches to 7 inches and may or may not have mufflers installed in them.
