Google satellite map

Google has developed a web map server application, a technology that enables the operation of map-based devices or services. This application is used in Google Ride Finder, Google Maps and other applications. Google offers street maps, route planners and business locators for various countries in the world that are based on the web map server. It has also created a standalone product, which offers globe-viewing features.
Google lets you explore all the physical features of the earth via these maps. Using a mouse, you can navigate and get detailed information or have a closer look at any location. A user can enter the address or the name of any area to find it quickly. The best thing about Google maps is, you can limit your search to a certain area. These maps also allow you to plan your driving directions, for example, you can check the traffic conditions and availability of roads etc., and thus decide the routes to take. Google maps offer three viewing modes, one of which is the Satellite View, which offers high-resolution aerial photos, and exciting satellite images of the earth.
Katrina and Google Satellite Map: Google satellite maps are dynamic and can be modified according to requirements. For example, when Hurricane Katrina occurred in September 2005, Google updated the satellite imagery of the New Orleans area, which allowed people to view the extent of flooding in that city. Thus, Google satellite maps were used to help in the rescue operations during Katrina. Therefore, these maps can be very useful in the event of natural disasters like floods, earthquakes and such like.
Image of Google Satellite Map: Images on Google satellite maps are of very high resolution; hence, they are crystal clear. Usually, the images you find on Google satellite maps are at least a year old, and sometimes, they can even be 5 years old. Although Google has deliberately blurred some images (areas) for security reasons, many countries still have objections to Google Satellite maps, as they can enable terrorists to carry out attacks. Hence, they are looked upon as a security threat by many countries.
Google satellite map and Google earth: Google earth is a unique combination of satellite imaging, GIS (Geographical Information System) and aerial photography, over a 3D object – the globe. The images are superimposed over one another. Through the digital terrain model, Google earth offers 3D views of the Grand Canyons or Mount Everest and the like, which was not possible before. You can also explore the power of aerial zoom, and 3D views of buildings anywhere in the world.
The reach of Google satellite maps is widening by the day. Currently, Google satellite maps cover most of the urban areas in the U.S., Canada, and parts of Australia, Egypt, France, UK, Italy, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Netherlands, the Bahamas, Mexico, Kuwait, and many other countries and regions. You can find the image of Sacramento, the capital city of California, on the maps. Many U.S. government bodies and institutions, including the well-known Area 51 in Nevada, are featured on Google satellite maps.
The World on Google Satellite Map: Originally, Google maps supported the Internet Explorer and Mozilla Web browsers. Google maps were launched on Google blog, on 8, February 2005. Thereafter, in April 2005, the satellite images view was activated. This sophisticated mapping system and satellite imagery technology created a huge interest worldwide. Subsequently, Google launched two new sites called Google Sightseeing and Google Globetrotting, containing satellite images of natural and man-made landmarks on earth. These global satellite maps have become very popular the world over, and they have become a destination themselves.
