CVS Pharmacy Location: The CVS Corporation is the United States’ leading pharmacy retailer operating over 5380 stores in 34 states. It is the largest pharmacy and convenience store chain in the United States. It has innovative strategy to ensure high-quality service to its customers. The CVS Corporation operates the stores under the name CVS Pharmacy and simply called as CVS. In terms of revenue it stands as the number two drug store and in terms of the number of stores, it stands as the leader in United States. The CVS sells all sorts of general merchandise from snacks to cosmetics, but the medical prescriptions make up approximately 70 percent of its sales. Hence it is also the world's largest purchaser of pharmaceuticals.

CVS Pharmacy Employment: The CVS Pharmacy has given employment to more than 110,000 people in its stores, regional offices, distribution centers, and headquarters in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. With the beginning of its first welfare to work program in 1996, the CVS formerly hired over 20,000 people on public assistance. The retention rate for former welfare recipients is higher in than the retention levels for entry level CVS workers. The CVS also approached partnership strategies to differentiate the company from the competition in the market. It has online application system for recruitments. The CVS has a seven-member government hiring team which works with city, state, local government agencies, nonprofits, and community based organizations including Job Corps, Goodwill Industries, the National Council on Aging, America’s Promise, the Kennedy Institute, etc. It also has partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Center for Workforce Preparation and career guidance. CVS Pharmacy Name: Formerly, the CVS Corporation was known as Melville Corporation.  But it changed its name to CVS in 1996. Although the name CVS stood for Consumer Value Stores in the beginning, it is now considered to stand for “Customer, Value and Service”. The CVS used to operate many convenience store-type stores without pharmacies. The Stores which had the pharmacies were indicated through the term “Pharmacy”. Later, when the CVS no longer built stores without pharmacies, the name “Pharmacy” became more generic with CVS. 

CVS Pharmacy Online: CVS bought Internet Pharmacy Soma.com, the first-ever internet pharmacy store. Later it became CVS.com. It renovated its strategy by closing 78 poorly performing stores and opening 400 new stores. It also co-branded an internet prescription site with Franklin Lakes to increase its prescription sales. CVS also joined many other retailers in a joint web-based business-to-business exchange for food, general merchandise and drugstore sectors, called the Worldwide Retail Exchange. The CVS Pharmacy online now offers many services through its online Pharmacy Counter. Through this, it is possible to fill new prescription coupons, transfer prescriptions to CVS, or refill prescriptions already registered for either mail delivery or a convenient pick-up at local store.
