But human consumption of raw meat or even cooked meat of snake may lead to dangerous parasitic infections. Cooked Rattlesnake meat is commonly eaten in western United States. In Asian countries like China drinking the blood of snakes, particularly the cobra, is believed to increase sexual virility. Chinese have a love-hate relationship with snakes. According to Chinese belief snakes symbolize darkness and negativity. In ancient times, most mental and physical ills were directly attributed to the wickedness of snakes. Some believes a brush with an evil snake can be avoided with one mouthful of fried snake. Therefore snakes are collected in China, the more poisonous the better. Body parts of Snake are used for preparing traditional medicines in parts of Eastern countries. Eating snake in Cantonese tradition dates back to the Han dynasty (206 BC-220 AD). You will find several restaurants in Beijing offering "Three Dishes from One Snake" They insist on bringing the snake to the table before cutting it to show that it is alive moments before it is cooked.
