Caesar salad

History of the Caesar Salad recipe: The original mouth watering Caesar Salad is a very celebrated and traditional salad starter. Due to the ingredients and the unusual method of tossing, Caesar salad is often termed as the ‘king’ of salads. Caesar salad has a beautiful story to its origin. On July 4, a group of Hollywood stars came down to eat at Caesars Restaurant in Tijuana, Mexico, which was a favorite eating spot of the Hollywood actors, way back in 1924. Caesar Cardini who was the chef and owner of the place found that his kitchen supplies had depleted and after giving the matter a serious thought he decided that he would make do with whatever he had. He threw in everything he laid his hands on, added his special salad tossing ability and voila! The Caesar Salad was born.
Caesar salad had many popular beliefs attached to it. Some believed that the original Salad recipe did not have anchovies and the slight anchovy flavor was the Worcestershire sauce used. However, most modern recipes now use anchovies in them. Anchovies are used either in the form of chopped fillets or paste. Caesar salad is very popular at Italian and Mexican restaurants and these restaurants have introduced many variations. Some recipes include mustard, tomato, bacon, avocado and garlic cloves, in addition to the original ingredients. Some others add a topping of grilled chicken to the salad or grilled shrimp or salmon, to make a more filling salad.
