Caesar dressing

History of Caesar Salad Dressing: Caesar salad is popularly known as king of salads, and is prepared by the tableside using traditional Caesar dressing ingredients. Contrary to popular myth, the Caesar dressing used in various salads is not named after the famous Roman emperor, Julius Caesar, but after the famous chef, Caesar Cardini, who invented it in 1924. Chef Cardini, who was an Italian restaurateur, worked in his own restaurant in Tijuana, Mexico, in order to avoid the restrictions of prohibition at that time.
Many stories surround the birth of Caesar Salad, the most common being the depletion of supplies on the 4th of July in Cardini’s restaurant, which had him throwing in whatever he could find and serving the dish as a tableside, which became instantly popular due to its unusual ingredients and delectable taste. Another story has it, that it was created for a congregation of Hollywood stars after a long weekend party.
The salad is hugely popular, especially in Italian and Mexican restaurants, with some restaurants (mostly Mexican) even improvising on the recipe by introducing or substituting some ingredients. Nevertheless, the original recipe retains its popularity, more than the altered ones.
Mouth-watering Red Lobster Caesar Salad Dressing Recipe: The ingredients used to make the Red Lobster Caesar Salad Dressing are:
3 anchovies
1 teaspoon of chopped garlic
2 teaspoons of red wine vinegar
2 teaspoons of Dijon mustard
3 tablespoons of olive oil
1 coddled egg yolk (egg cooked in almost boiling water)
5 splashes of Worcestershire sauce
½ a lemon’s juice
¼ teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
¼ cup of fresh Parmesan cheese
Mash and spread the anchovies and garlic with a fork and rub it inside a medium size wooden bowl. Add vinegar and mustard. Next, add olive oil and the coddled egg yolk. Finally, add the Worcestershire sauce, lemon, pepper and Parmesan cheese, and mix all the ingredients.
Unlike the original Caesar salad dressing recipe, you add the lettuce and croutons to the dressing first, and not vice-versa. Tossing is a vital step in the preparation of any salad, and this Caesar salad recipe mixed with red lobster is no exception. Hence, toss all the salad ingredients carefully until everything is coated with the Caesar dressing, and then place them in individual bowls.
Creamy Caesar Dressing: People can now easily make Chef Cardini’s magic salad in their own kitchen, because most food malls store numerous varieties of bottled Cardini Caesar dressing these days. There are many varieties of the Cardini Caesar dressing available, ranging from deliciously creamy ones to fat free ones.
Cardini’s original Caesar dressing is one of the finest creamy dressings that you can get. Despite popular belief, Cardini did not use anchovies in his recipe. The slight anchovy taste that the dressing has, comes from the Worcestershire sauce. The other popular dressings are Cardini’s Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing, Cardini’s Italian Dressing with Blue Cheese, Cardini’s Italian Dressing, Cardini’s Roasted Asian Dressing (especially for Asian salads), Cardini’s roasted Garlic Dressing, and Cardini’s Aged Parmesan Ranch. For the health conscious, Cardini’s Fat Free Dressing and Cardini’s Light Caesar Dressing are available, which make delicious, low fat, homemade salads.
Ingredients for Caesar Salad dressing: A Caesar Salad and its dressing contains the following ingredients:
Croutons (small pieces of dry or fried seasoned bread)
Romaine lettuce
Olive oil
Raw, coddled or hard boiled egg yolks
Parmesan Cheese
Worcestershire sauce
Freshly ground black pepper
Method of preparation:
Mix the coddled eggs along with olive oil and whisk slowly, so that it does not liquefy, then add the Worcestershire sauce and fresh black pepper and whisk some more. Finally, add the cheese and the croutons on top of the salad ingredients, and give it all a nice toss. Then, lay the tossed ingredients on the Romaine lettuce leaves, and garnish with some more croutons.
Except for the croutons, egg yolks and Romaine lettuce leaves, the rest of the ingredients can be avoided while making Caesar salad, if you use bottled Caesar dressing.
