Bananas foster

Bananas Foster recipe: Bananas Foster is a popular dessert made from bananas and vanilla
ice cream, with a sauce made from butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, dark rum, and banana liqueur. The butter, sugar and bananas are cooked, before adding the alcohol and then ignited. The bananas and sauce are then served over the vanilla ice cream. They not only taste magnificent but also look amazing. The preparation in most of the restaurants is performed as a side table presentation. The history of the recipe dates back to 1951 when a talented chef, Paul Blangé of New Orleans restaurant Brennan’s took up the challenge to innovate a new dessert with bananas. You would require 1/4 cup butter, 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 cup banana liqueur, 4 bananas, cut in half lengthwise and then halved, 1/4 cup dark rum and 4 scoops vanilla ice cream. For preparing the foster, add butter, sugar, and cinnamon in a flambé
pan or skillet. Cook the pan with low heat either on an alcohol burner or on top of the stove, till the sugar melts. Stir in the banana liqueur, and add the chopped bananas. When the banana soften and begin to turn light brown, add the rum carefully. Continue to cook the sauce till the rum is hot and then tip the
pan slightly to ignite the rum. When the flames subside, take out the bananas from the pan and place them over the ice cream. Pour warm sauce over the top of the ice cream and serve immediately. More variations of the recipe came up subsequently. You can find them either in cook books or in internet
sites.

banana foster. Do not take the ones which are too soft. Otherwise they will be mashed up while stirring the preparation with in the soft. The banana pieces almost intact in their shape would just look perfect on top of the scoop of vanilla ice cream. If you do not have the banana l liqueur, you can substitute with lemon juice. But add the juice after removing the pan from the fire or else it will taste bitter.
