Dancing Banana:The gif based icon The Dancing Banana that’s also known as the Banana Man is an emoticon, credits for which go to Candice Martel (a Canadian) and has become a staple for several forums since 2001. The text equivalent of the graphical image is - :banana: and till now, numerous variations of the same have been noticed (e.g. dancing pickle and dancing pepper), which also appear as other popular flash-based emoticons in a number of chat-rooms. However, emoticons that are variants but still feature the banana are the ones riding a llama using his signature hand gesture and the banana dressed as a Christmas tree.

Dancing Banana and Peanut Butter Jelly Time: If there is a dance, there has to be a song and for the dancing banana, the flash animation makes it dance to the song Peanut Butter Jelly Time. Credits for animating the icon goes to Ryan Gancenia Etrata and Kevin Flynn. However, other variants like carrots, pickles, apples, mangoes, pineapples etc. are also found tapping to the same tune - a song that received prominence from the Family Guy episode (The Courtship of Stewie's Father), where Brian (a character) attempts to make another character, Peter, cheer up by performing it.
