The Nation- Thailand Newspaper: The Nation is a reputed daily newspaper of Thailand published in English. It was published on July 1, 1971, as ‘The Voice of the Nation’, however, over a period of time, its name was shortened to Nation. The Nation multimedia group owns the paper. The Nation is a broadsheet newspaper that covers national as well as international news. It also addresses the foreigners in Thailand. It generally hires Thai journalists, to cover local issues from a Thai perspective. It is known to be critical in its approach towards the government. The Nation, one of the most popular newspapers of Thailand is a member of the Asia News Network.

Bangkok Post- Thailand Newspaper: The Bangkok Post is a daily newspaper of Thailand published in English. The Post Publishing Public Co. Ltd owns it. The first issue of this broadsheet newspaper was published on August 1, 1946. Alexander MacDonald, former OSS officer and his Thai associate, Prasit Lulitanond, founded this broadsheet. Lord Roy Thomson later acquired the newspaper when Alex MacDonald left the country after a military coup in the 1950’s. Bangkok Post was clearly the most independent newspaper in Thailand, with young and enthusiastic journalists heading the editorials. The major investors in the Post publishing are the Chirathivat family- owners of Central Group, Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post and GMM Grammy Pcl, the biggest Entertainment and Media Company of Thailand. Bangkok Post had started two additional English newspapers in the late 1980’s, but they are not functional anymore. The Bangkok Post has been covering a number of issues from the emigrant point of view, after several journalists left the paper and joined The Nation in 1991. Bangkok Post was very popular for the weekly Nite Owl, by Bernard Trink that covered articles on the Bangkok’s nightlife. This column was published from 1966 to 2004. The Nation, a Thai owned and supervised newspaper is a major competitor of the Bangkok Post.

Thai Rath- Thailand Newspaper: Thai Rath is a daily newspaper of Thailand published in Thai, with a nationwide circulation. It is a broadsheet and comprises of two segments. The first one is news oriented, while the second one covers entertainment and sports. Thai Rath is one of the oldest and the most popular newspapers in Thailand, with an estimated circulation of over one million copies every day. Kampol Watcharapol founded this newspaper on 25 December 1962. Apart from Thai Rath, he started two other newspapers, Raiwan and Khaophap that were eventually forced to shut down by the Thai government, in 1958. The news section in the Thai Rath is often known for its sensational coverage of crimes and accidents. In addition to this, the Thai Rath also includes news stories on Thai politics, the economy and society. The political page of the newspaper had completely supported Thaksin Shinawatra the Prime Minister, and several policies of the Thai Rak Thai Party, ever since he acquired the prestigious position in 2001. However, since 2005, the newspaper has taken on a very critical outlook of the various local issues.
